On arrival at Tangier's port or airport, you'll be met by a member of our WanderlustInMorocco team and transferred directly to Chefchaouen. Once there, take some time to wander the town's enchanting medina, famed for its houses washed in every shade of blue, creating an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Morocco. Stroll the cobbled lanes, discover flower-draped corners at every turn, and visit Uta el-Hammam Square, the lively heart of the city surrounded by cafés and restaurants beneath the Kasbah. You might also step inside the Kasbah to admire its Andalusian garden and small ethnographic museum, peek at the exterior of the Great Mosque, or climb to the Spanish Mosque viewpoint for a breathtaking sunset over the town and the surrounding Rif Mountains. Settle in for the night at a traditional riad within the medina, where the calm, welcoming atmosphere of Chefchaouen awaits.
tart your morning with free time to keep exploring Chefchaouen's photogenic blue streets and easygoing medina atmosphere. By mid-morning, we set off toward Fes, stopping along the way at the Roman ruins of Volubilis, roughly 27 km outside the city. Wander among the remarkably preserved mosaics, temples and archways of this ancient site, offering a genuine glimpse into Morocco's Roman past. From there, we continue on to Fes, arriving as the sun sets. Settle into a riad within the medina, where a traditional dinner awaits before a well-earned rest ahead of tomorrow's city exploration.
Spend today discovering Morocco's cultural capital on a full-day tour of Fes. Known as Fes el Bali, this UNESCO World Heritage old city was founded in the 9th century and is home to the world's oldest university. Fes reached its true cultural and economic peak in the 13th and 14th centuries under the Merinid dynasty, when it served as the kingdom's capital, and even after the political capital shifted to Rabat in 1912, it has remained Morocco's foremost hub for traditional craftsmanship. The medina's workshops are as active today as they were a century ago, keeping trades like blacksmithing, leatherwork, ceramics, silk weaving and sculpture alive within the original city walls that enclose nearly 9,000 narrow lanes. On this guided tour, you'll visit the traditional dyeing workshops, the Zellij and Azulejo tile cooperative, Al Quaraouiyine University, a panoramic viewpoint over Fes el Bali, the Jewish Mellah quarter and synagogue, the historic tanneries, the silk, wool and cotton souks, the Royal Palace of Fes, the Blue Gate, and a weavers' cooperative. Afterward, enjoy free time in the city before dinner and an overnight stay in a charming riad.
Around 8:00 AM, your driver-guide will collect you from your riad or hotel in Fes for the journey toward the Great Sahara Desert. We'll pass through Ifrane, often nicknamed "Little Switzerland" for its alpine architecture, and stop at the Cedar Forest to watch monkeys climbing among the trees. Continuing through the Middle Atlas Mountains, we reach the Ziz Valley, one of southern Morocco's largest palm oases, before arriving in Erfoud, known for its fossils and fossilized marble workshops. On reaching Merzouga, we'll swap our vehicle for dromedaries and head into the desert to catch a magical sunset over the Erg Chebbi dunes, arriving at our desert camp for a traditional Berber dinner beneath a blanket of stars and an overnight stay in a nomadic tent.
Early risers can climb a nearby dune to watch the sunrise before heading back to the hotel by camel. After a hearty breakfast and refreshing shower, we continue toward Erfoud, celebrated for its fossil quarries containing specimens over 380 million years old, transformed by local artisans into a variety of decorative objects. From there, we reach the celebrated Todra Gorges, a favorite among climbers and trekkers, where you'll have time to walk between the towering canyon walls and cool off by the river. We continue along the scenic "Road of a Thousand Kasbahs" into the Dades Valley, passing through the Roses Valley, where locals produce rose water, soaps and creams from the region's abundant rose cultivation. Dinner and overnight at a cozy mountain hotel beside the Dades River.
We follow the Dades Gorges along the riverbank, passing striking geological formations, abandoned kasbahs, Berber villages and lush orchards. From there, we head to Ouarzazate for a panoramic view of the Taourirt Kasbah — and, for film enthusiasts, an optional visit to the studios where many famous movies have been shot, earning Ouarzazate its nickname as the "Hollywood of Morocco." Just 30 km outside town, we stop at the renowned Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with free time to wander its lanes and climb to the top for sweeping valley views. In the afternoon, we cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260 m altitude), pausing along the way to admire stone villages tucked into the surrounding valleys and slopes. On arrival in Marrakech, enjoy an evening soaking up the electric atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Overnight in a riad in Marrakech.
Around 8:30–9:00 AM, your local guide will meet you at your riad or hotel to begin exploring Marrakech. The city is best known for the lively Jemaa el-Fnaa square, filled with juice stalls, dried fruit and nut vendors, henna artists, snake charmers, storytellers and countless nightly food stands. Depending on your time and preferences, you'll visit the Jardin Majorelle, once owned by Yves Saint Laurent and celebrated for its signature "Majorelle blue," and Le Jardin Secret, a traditional four-quadrant Islamic paradise garden fed by water channels from the Atlas Mountains. You'll pass the Koutoubia Mosque, Marrakech's towering landmark near Jemaa el-Fnaa (entry restricted to Muslims, though the gardens behind are especially fragrant in spring with orange blossom). The tour continues to the Bahia Palace — "the palace of the beautiful" — the Ben Youssef Medersa, once home to around 80 Quranic students, and the Saadian Tombs. In the souks, browse the tanneries, intricate metalwork lamps, carpets and Berber rugs, and the beautifully restored Mellah quarter with its Jewish souks. Your guide will accompany you back to your riad at the end of the tour.
Enjoy a final, unhurried day in Marrakech — perhaps starting with coffee at an iconic café, a bit more exploring, and a relaxing traditional hammam session. When the time comes, you'll be transferred to the airport in line with your flight schedule, bringing your Moroccan journey to a close.
