3 days Trip Marrakech to Fez through Sahara Desert

Around 8:00 AM, your driver-guide picks you up from your hotel or riad in Fes to begin this 3-day journey through the Middle Atlas Mountains toward Marrakech. The first stop is Ifrane — often called the "Switzerland of Morocco" — known for its striking scenery and forests. From there, we continue to Azrou, home to the cedar forest where wild Barbary macaques roam; you'll have time to stop and take photos along the way. The route continues to Midelt, with an optional stop for lunch at a local restaurant.

We then head toward the desert via the Tizi n'Talghamt pass to Errachidia, taking in the views of the Ziz Gorges, with time to pause and photograph the dramatic Ziz Valley. The journey continues through the Tafilalt Oasis, passing Aoufous and Erfoud — known for its fossil museums and date palms, with an optional stop at a local fossil workshop.

Just before sunset, you'll arrive in the Merzouga Sahara Desert for an experience to remember: a camel ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes toward our authentic Berber desert camp. The trek takes about 90 minutes, with a stop atop the dunes to watch the sunset, try sandboarding if you like, and take in the views. At camp, you're welcomed with a glass of mint tea before dinner, followed by traditional Berber drumming, a sky full of stars, a campfire, and the chance to swap stories with the nomads. Overnight in a private nomadic-style tent.
