You'll be welcomed at Marrakech Airport by a member of our WanderlustInMorocco team and transferred straight to your riad. Depending on your arrival time and interests, you might like to visit the Jardin Majorelle, the enchanting garden once owned by Yves Saint Laurent, celebrated for its signature "Majorelle blue" hue. Later, enjoy a relaxed afternoon at Jemaa el-Fnaa, where a rooftop terrace makes the perfect spot for a drink while watching the sun go down over the square. Overnight in a superior riad.
Around 8:30–9:00 AM, a local guide will meet you at your riad to begin exploring Marrakech. The city's beating heart is Jemaa el-Fnaa, alive with fresh juice stalls, dried fruit and nut vendors, henna artists, snake charmers, storytellers and a lively spread of food stalls each evening. You'll also visit Le Jardin Secret, a traditional four-quadrant Islamic paradise garden whose water channels flow directly from the Atlas Mountains, and pass by the Koutoubia Mosque, Marrakech's towering symbol near Jemaa el-Fnaa (entry is reserved for Muslims, though the surrounding gardens are especially fragrant in spring, filled with orange blossom and shaded benches). The tour continues to the Bahia Palace — meaning "palace of the beautiful" — the Ben Youssef Medersa, once home to roughly 80 Quranic students, and the Saadian Tombs. In the souks, browse the tanneries, intricate metalwork lamps, carpets and Berber rugs, and the beautifully restored Mellah quarter with its Jewish souks. Your guide will accompany you back to your riad at the end of the day.
After breakfast, we depart Marrakech and cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka pass, pausing along the way to take in sweeping mountain views. If you're interested, we can stop at a small women's cooperative that produces argan oil, where you'll learn how this prized ingredient is extracted and see the range of culinary and beauty products made from the argan fruit. Continuing to Ouarzazate, we visit the celebrated Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with free time to wander its lanes and climb to the top for stunning valley views; the nearby film studios, where numerous Hollywood productions have been shot, are also worth a visit if time allows. From there, we reach Skoura, nestled in the heart of a palm-filled valley, where a walk through its sprawling, labyrinthine oasis reveals hidden kasbahs, including the notable Kasbah Amridil. We then continue through the Valley of Roses, famed for its rose cultivation, before arriving at the dramatic Dades Gorges. Dinner and overnight at a wonderful hotel in the Dades Valley.
After breakfast, we follow the road along the Boumalne riverbank, flanked by kasbahs and ksour set against a striking landscape of ochre, red and mauve tones, with rocky plateaus where dromedaries graze nearby. Passing through a string of ksour, oases and palm groves, we reach Tineghir, perched at 1,350 meters and surrounded by palm trees, home to the spectacular Todra Gorges — with free time to walk through the canyon. From there, we continue to Erfoud, known as the "city of fossils," where you can see the quarries fossils are extracted from and learn how they're transformed into a range of decorative pieces. Arriving in Merzouga, dromedaries will be waiting to carry you into the desert as the sun sets, all the way to a tented camp nestled among the high dunes. Dinner and overnight in a tent beneath the desert stars.
Rise early for the chance to see a beautiful sunrise over the Merzouga dunes (optional), followed by breakfast at camp. Your camel guide will then lead you back to the meeting point in central Merzouga, from where we continue toward Fes — by camel or 4x4, whichever you prefer. Leaving the desert behind, we pass through Errachidia, stopping for a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley, one of southeastern Morocco's largest oases with abundant palm groves and olive trees. We continue through Midelt for lunch, then on to Azrou to spot macaque monkeys in Morocco's largest cedar forest. A short stop follows in the alpine town of Ifrane before we complete the drive to Fes, where you'll spend the night in a charming riad.
Today is dedicated to discovering Fes, Morocco's cultural and artisanal capital. Known as Fes el Bali, this UNESCO World Heritage old city was founded in the 9th century and is home to the world's oldest university. It reached its cultural and economic peak in the 13th and 14th centuries under the Merinid dynasty, when it served as the kingdom's capital, and even after the political capital moved to Rabat in 1912, Fes retained its role as Morocco's premier center for traditional craftsmanship. Its medina workshops remain just as active today, sustaining trades such as metalwork, leatherwork, ceramics, silk weaving and sculpture that continue to power the local economy. On this guided tour, you'll explore the Jewish Mellah, the historic tanneries, the silk, wool and cotton dyers' souk, the Zellij tile cooperative, Al Quaraouiyine University, the Royal Palace of Fes, and a traditional weavers' cooperative, along with a sweeping panoramic view over Fes el Bali. Afterward, we head to the blue village of Chefchaouen for an overnight stay in a charming riad.
After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Chefchaouen, the enchanting blue city known for its whitewashed houses, turquoise-blue doors, wrought-iron windows and tiled roofs, along with its iconic cascading blue streets. Relax on a café terrace with views of the impressive Tarik-Ben-Ziad Mosque, and admire the Andalusian-style kasbah at the heart of the medina. A walk through town reveals the traditional djellaba robe, native to this region, along with local basketry and ceramic craftsmanship, and free time to explore the vibrant souk. From here, we head to Tangier, often called the "princess of the north," where we'll tour the old medina before driving along the coast to Cap Spartel, the striking point where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean.
After breakfast, you'll be transferred to Tangier Airport in line with your flight's departure time, bringing your Moroccan journey to a close.
