Your journey starts with a pickup at the airport or anywhere in Marrakech, at a time that works for you — our driver will be waiting with a Wanderlust in Morocco sign. From there, transfer to your riad or hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may join a guided city tour the same day; if not, you'll still get your first taste of Marrakech at the legendary Jemaa el-Fna square, with its food stalls, storytellers, music, and street performers. Overnight in a charming riad in the medina.
Around 8:00 AM, we set off from your riad, crossing the Tizi n'Tichka pass through the High Atlas Mountains, past Berber villages tucked into the landscape. Next stop: the UNESCO-listed Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a striking fortress that's served as the backdrop for major film productions over the years. After time to explore, enjoy a Berber lunch at a restaurant overlooking the kasbah. We then continue toward Ouarzazate, with an optional stop at the Atlas film studios, before reaching the palm-filled oasis of Skoura and its own historic kasbah. The route continues along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Valley of Roses — home to Kalaat M'Gouna, famous for its annual Rose Festival each May — before arriving in the Dades Valley for dinner and an overnight stay in a riad.
After breakfast, we drive through the Dades Canyon, passing ancient kasbahs and traditional Berber villages that once served the old caravan routes. We continue to the Todra Gorges, a dramatic 15km valley lined with palm trees and towering pink-and-grey rock walls, with time for a short walking tour inside the canyon. From there, we head toward Merzouga and the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes, where a roughly 90-minute camel trek carries you into the desert. Along the way, you'll pause among the dunes to watch the sunset — with the option to try sandboarding — before continuing by camel to your desert camp, welcomed with a glass of mint tea. The evening unfolds with Berber music, a campfire under a sky full of stars, dinner, and an overnight stay in a traditional nomad-style camp.
Early risers can catch sunrise from atop the dunes before breakfast at camp. You'll then ride back by camel to meet your guide in Merzouga. The rest of the day is spent heading back toward Ouarzazate, passing adobe kasbahs, Berber villages, and striking rock formations along the way. We cross the High Atlas once more, arriving back in Marrakech around 7:00 PM, with transfer to your riad in the medina.
After breakfast, your guided tour of Marrakech begins at the Koutoubia Minaret, one of the city's most iconic landmarks. From there, visit the Saadian Tombs, known for their ornate Carrara marble, followed by the Bahia Palace with its intricately carved cedar-wood ceilings. The tour continues on foot to the UNESCO-listed Jemaa el-Fna square. Depending on your flight schedule, you'll then be transferred to Marrakech Airport, bringing your journey to a close.
